RDs undergo extensive education and practical training, holding at least a bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field. They also complete a supervised internship and pass a national examination to earn their credentials.

Yes, Dietitian is a protected title across Canada, while “Nutritionist” is only protected in Alberta, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. Therefore, in Ontario and some other provinces, people may use the title “Nutritionist” even if they did not complete the rigorous program needed to become a Registered Dietitian.

Yes! At the moment, in-person appointments are available for Windsor residents on Mondays at 2296 Richmond Street, Windsor, ON, N8Y 1L6
For WINDSOR HEART INSTITUTE patients, in-person appointments are located at Suite 120B, 1303 County Road 22, Belle River, ON, N8R 1A0

Review your extended health care benefits as many insurance providers allocate benefits for Registered Dietitian services. If you do not have coverage, you may be able to claim dietitian services as a tax-deductible medical expense. Currently, OHIP does not cover Registered Dietitian services.
